Meat The Team: Jim

If there’s one person who knows The Falcon inside and out, it’s James “Jim” Ball.

Jim first joined the team at just 18, back in the days of The Pear Tree in Charfield, where he started out waiting tables and pulling pints. After some time away, he returned in 2017 — this time as our General Manager — and he’s been keeping the whole place running like clockwork ever since.



Life Beyond The Falcon

When he’s not here steering the ship, Jim’s happiest spending quality time with his fiancée Amanda and their son Theo. He also enjoys a well-earned pint after a busy shift — because even the best managers need their downtime!


Jim’s Falcon Favourites

Here’s how Jim likes to order when he’s sitting down to dinner:

  • Starter: Breaded Brie Wedges with Sweet Chilli Sauce

  • Steak: 32oz Tomahawk, cooked Medium Rare

  • Sides: Dressed Salad Leaves, Homemade Onion Rings & Dauphinoise Potatoes

  • Extras: Classic Stilton Sauce & extra Onion Rings

  • Dessert: Lemon Posset

  • Drink of Choice: Pint of RPA from Ramsbury Ales


What Jim Loves About The Falcon

Jim summed up what keeps him motivated in his role:

“I love the constant introduction of new systems, the joy of a good list, and keeping everything running smoothly. Seeing happy customers – and working alongside such a fantastic team with their own unique qualities – makes it all worthwhile.”

A Final Word

From his early days behind the bar to leading as General Manager, Jim has been part of The Falcon’s story for years. Give him a nod next time you visit — without him, the wheels wouldn’t turn quite as smoothly.
